Principal's Message
Dear Fort Stevens Families,
On behalf of the dedicated staff of Fort Stevens Elementary School, we are excited to collaborate with you this school year! Our teachers and staff are passionate, caring, and committed to ensuring that all students reach their full potential. We are looking forward to another great year and a strong partnership with you to ensure all children can be lifelong learners. As partners in education, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and are committed to fulfilling our roles. We kindly ask that you support your child’s learning by ensuring they:
- Attend school daily and arrive on time, prepared for the day’s learning experiences.
- Read daily to foster a love for reading and enhance literacy skills.
- Share school experiences with you to keep you informed about their school life.
- Complete any homework assignments provided by teachers.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
An important part of a successful school year is having our students follow basic rules that promote safety for themselves and others. Fort Stevens Eagles SOAR. This means that we teach students to Self-regulate, Overcome challenges, Act with Integrity and Respect everyone. Our School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework establishes the necessary social, cultural, and behavioral supports to create a safe and effective learning environment.
School Arrival Times
Students should arrive on campus each day 5 minutes before the final morning bell, which signals the start of school at 9:15 AM, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Beginning September 17, Wednesday start times will be delayed by one hour, with students arriving by 10:15 AM. These late start Wednesdays allow our instructional staff to gather as a Professional Learning Community. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring students arrive on time each day.
Dismissal Procedures
We strongly encourage all students in a bus zone to utilize the bus for their daily transportation home. Further information regarding transportation can be found on the district website. Please notify the office before 2:00 PM if there are any changes to your child’s dismissal procedures. Timely communication is essential to avoid delays for all students.
I encourage you to become familiar with the Yelm Community Schools website and enroll in Skyward/Family Access.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office at 360.458.4800, and we will be happy to help you.
Warmly,
Lisa Crowell
Fort Stevens Principal
